Product Description
DMM have been asked to produce a series of Oval carabiners for some time. We were hesitant because we wanted to design a new generation of oval carabiners, but were worried about the potential costings. The momentum to start the project finally came when we started producing pulleys for our industrial, arborist and technical rescue customers, and the pulley range needed a range of ovals to create a hauling system. Typically we have raised the bar on oval carabiners with our new Ultra O range. The bodies are hot forged with I-Beam panels and the result is a super strong keylock carabiner with a major axis strength of 25kN and a minor axis strength of 12kN. A lot of people will see this as the ultimate carabiner for rigging pulley systems and it has been designed to work perfectly with the Hitch Climber Pulley that is rapidly gaining popularity with arborists. It is also, perhaps surprisingly, a really good belay carabiner with a wide 9.75mm rope radius that is kind to ropes - the beauty is it does not matter if the carabiner inverts in your belay loop, plus it has a really high cross loading strength. Totally anodised with a gate that has a rivet in a contrasting colour for easy recognition of the gate opening end. The Ultra O series comes with Screwgate, Quicklock or Locksafe locking mechanisms, plus there is a plain gate version for those who like ovals for racking gear and aiding.
